My first foray into Philadelphia Documentary Family Photography … my photo journey started here as a journalism major more than 10 years ago and it feels good to be back home and working again in this way!
Some rough and tumble
But also some soft sweetness
Boys hold multitudes.
But what would life be?
If kids were only allowed
If we give them room
to question, grow, and change,
we gift the world breath.
Traci is a friend of some of my dearest clients from Denver. She also happens to live in my exact neighborhood. What are the odds?! She invited me over for a shoot just a few weeks after we moved to Philly. It felt amazing to grab my camera and photograph in the city where I first learned this craft. It’s been more than a decade since I’ve carried that thing on these streets and it was oddly sentimental for me.
It was so fun to see a family of boys be so tender. They played with trucks and sticks and mud but also had big feelings and the sweetest cuddles. I love seeing both, and. I love seeing parents who let their kids contain multitudes.
Thankfully, I’ll be seeing more of them! They hired me for a Best Week Ever, so I’ll be photographing them 7 times total. We’ve already done three shoots, so we have four more to go! These are photos from our first two sessions: a walk with one set of grandparents and then mini golf with the other! What a delight, this crew.
