When Chris first reached out to me about photographing his dad’s birthday slash family reunion, I was a little skeptical. They were having it a Boondock’s (which is basically like Dave & Buster’s … an adult arcade). I thought about the harsh bowling alley lighting, the dark arcade area, and the repetitiveness of the go-kart track.
I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to give them beautiful photos. But then I thought about all the moments that can occur between 15 people at a center for fun over the course of a few hours. I talked myself into it, knowing that it would be a challenge.
I cannot tell you how much fun I had. They bowled, played, raced, and even laser-tagged. And I was there for all of it! There were smiles plastered on everyone’s faces the whole time … I got so many incredible moments that I had a difficult task narrowing it down.
These photos show their out loud love, their individual personalities, and mark a season of life where they all want to have fun. I would pay thousands of dollars to have photographs like this with my cousins, aunts and uncles from when I was little. It is such a gift to their children to document the whole family in this way.
And now any time a client asks me to photograph a reunion, I’m like, “But yes, what games will you be playing?” Thanks for opening my eyes to a whole new world Cooper family! You guys are a blast!
